If pasta is what you’re after, the menu does not disappoint. The Shrimp Linguine, adorned with charred cherry tomatoes, a hint of chili, and crispy gremolata, delivers a delightful balance of spice, acidity, and freshness. Meanwhile, the 40-layer Lasagna is a decadent journey into ragù bolognese bliss, elevated by porcini crema and a light parmigiano espuma that melts in your mouth.
Large plates such as the Roasted Steelhead with sweet corn risotto and nduja butter showcase regional ingredients with bold flavors, while dishes like the 10oz Sirloin Steak Frites provide a classic yet refined protein experience complimented by a marinated tomato salad and a luscious café de Paris butter. Cozy, comforting, and complex, the Chicken Ballotine with sage and brown butter jus brings a perfectly balanced richness to the table.
The dessert menu is equally compelling. The Maple Bourbon Crème Brûlée is a standout—a harmoniously sweet finale with just the right kiss of warmth from the bourbon. The Apple Cinnamon Fritters served with salted caramel and cream cheese add a playful crunch and velvety contrast, while the Chocolate Basque Cheesecake rounds out the experience with decadent candied hazelnut brittle and sherried whipped cream.

The have booth seating and long communal tables. The food was scrumptious and we enjoying watching the hockey game as we enjoyed our meal. Thank you too to our kind server who made it throughly enjoyable.
Bear Bierhaus is a really pet-friendly spot, which we love. Staff are welcoming to dogs and make you feel at home. Service can be a bit forgetful at times, but given how busy it gets, it’s understandable. Food-wise, the oysters were fresh and delicious, and the mussels were absolutely amazing, definitely a highlight. We also tried the lasagna, which took a while to come out. Honestly, we preferred the linguine. It had great flavor and didn’t come with the long wait. A solid spot for a casual night out, especially if you’re bringing your pup along. Just be ready for a bit of a wait during peak times.
A great dog friendly spot for a meal! The service was great (very friendly), the menu was well-curated and straight forward. We ordered drinks and the oysters and mussels - everything was excellent! The oysters were fresh, mild, and well-shucked with great seasonings. The mussels came in broth and were delicious, but we did note a bitter taste from the broth (tasted like some cooked-too-fast onion r shallot)- not terrible and probably just a slight cooking error. The best part was being able to bring our dogs on the patio with us! Thank you so much for the great service and food!
The food was much better than you’d expect at a beer house restaurant. It was so good that we came back 2x on this trip! The first time, we shared the 1/2 size shrimp linguine and it was very good. We also shared the crispy goat cheese salad which was really refreshing and fresh too. The second time , I had their burger and it was a 10/10. It wasn’t just a stock pub burger- it was so much better and juicier! The hand cut fries tasted fresh too!
A family style dining experience that surprised and delighted us. Friendly casual service that was perfectly professional without being stiff. The atmosphere is bright, intimately lit with colourful flowers as table pieces and lovely pottery tableware. Our group really enjoyed the community seating at long tables where we could share our thoughts about each plate with not only our immediate group but the groups either side that were curious. We ordered 8 dishes from the menu to share between four of us and it was the perfect amount of food for us. We had the maq salad, 2 flavours of chicken wings, octopus, pork belly lettuce wraps, sausage, broccolini, and potatoes. The highlight of my meal was the sausage, with a fennel and olive mix on the side that was quite complimentary. Everything was cooked perfectly and had surprising sauces that intrigued us and had us buzzing. The buttermilk chicken wings were exceptional, crunchy on the outside and so juicy on the inside. Interesting flavours and a lovely dining experience, plus they were not so busy that they couldn't fit us in on a whim. Definitely a highlight of our trip to Tofino, part of its redemption in my eyes. I highly suggest if you visit to order a few things to share, enjoy a glass of wine or a radler, and take your time picking through the flavours and textures in good company. P.S. I think this restaurant would do very well with a set $60-70pp tasting menu.
Came here at the tail end of Happy Hour, was pleasantly surprised to see all the food on the HH menu is exclusive to that timeframe, very fresh seafood best Tuna Tataki ever. Smoked Fish Dip was a bit heavy on the dill for my personal preference but great and liked that it looks like they fry the chips in-house. Oysters were super fresh and their fermented hot sauce is delicious. Entrees for dinner was not as big of a hit, mussels were shrivelled up and ate dry without a super saucy or broth situation. Octopus was good. Lamb Pasta pricing was high for box pasta and tasted fine. Loved our cocktails and drinks. Service was super friendly and attentive. Sadly couldn’t bring our dog cause their patio was closed for a private event.
Visited for dinner and for drinks another night while staying at Maq. Food is surprisingly good! Not OH MY GOD AMAZING but definitely good to try for sure. Staff were friendly! If you want a spot inside though, definitely make a reservation. We really enjoyed the pasta, and their Basque cheesecake was sooo good!
